Vandre is a 2-ply carded yarn made of 100% Norwegian wool. Vandre is our own sock yarn. Here we have not mixed in nylon, but used wool from the spæls sheep as reinforcement. The long outer hairs of the spæls sheep are extra robust and make the yarn more durable. In addition, Vandre has a lot of twist, which also helps to make the yarn durable and well suited for socks. The yarn can feel a little stringy when knitting and the result a little stiff. Socks knitted in Vandre should be machine washed before use. This helps the fibers to "settle", which increases the durability and makes the socks more dirt-repellent. In addition, the socks become softer and fluffier. Wash the socks at 40 °C on a program that lasts about 1 hour. Use a full spin. Shape the socks while they are still wet and let them dry flat. Please note that over time, most socks will need to be mended, especially 100% natural fiber socks like Vandre. We recommend mending as soon as you see signs of holes forming for a good and long-lasting result.
